"School is a building that has four walls with tomorrow inside." Mehreen Saeed
Currently in charge of the Citywide Savings Unit at the Mayor's Office of Management and Budget in New York City, our guest this week is Mehreen Saeed, who studied public administration at the Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, New York University.
As a volunteer, Mehreen has supported social welfare, development, and humanitarian aid exclusively through Comprehensive Disaster Response Services (CDRS), a non-profit organisation whose mission is to rebuild government-run schools in Azad Kashmir after the 2005 earthquake, and has been certified as a trustworthy charity by the Pakistan Center for Philanthropy.
Among them is Prem Kot's Government Girls High School, a project Mehreen has been working on for some time. It is now operational and serves as a symbol of her true commitment as she raises awareness about the issue and works to rebuild many more schools. In one of her recent projects, she expresses, "I was told last week that another school is almost ready." It is located in Batangi Ghari, Jhelum Valley.
We are thrilled to have Mehreen Saeed join us on the podcast to talk about her journey to bring many children back to the classroom. Please enjoy!
