In this podcast episode, we delve into the state of the podcasting market in Europe, highlighting successful case studies from Poland and Slovakia. To learn more, we interviewed Maciej Okraszewski, a journalist and founder of the podcast "Dział Zagraniczny," which means "Foreign Department" in Polish. The podcast features exclusive reporting and conversations with experts on global events not covered by other Polish media. Additionally, we spoke with Dávid Tvrdoň , a journalist, podcaster, and subscription specialist at the Slovak daily SME.sk. Along with serving as a digital strategist, he is the co-founder of Slovenské podcasty, Slovakia’s independent podcast network and the Slovak Podcast Awards. This episode focuses on how publishers and solo journalists can approach podcasting. From building a reader revenue model to finding advertisers, the pair explore the most effective strategies for monetising a podcast, all while maximising audience engagement.

The Podcast is part of the European Journalism Centre’s Journalism Innovation Network, a newly launched initiative for media entrepreneurs and news innovators looking for a space to connect, learn and thrive. To join, head over to ejc.net/network. The Network and Podcast are both supported by the Google News Initiative.
