"Hurdy Gurdy Songs" is a new show exploring the breadth and depth of resistance songs across ethnic, national and generational lines. Produced and hosted by Jorge Arevalo Mateus, Executive Director of the Association for Cultural Equity-Alan Lomax Archive and co-founder of the Woody Guthrie Archives, the program will present classic artists and performances alongside obscure, unknown and emerging singers and players, drawing from repertoires of resistance songs both local and wide. Hurdy Gurdy highlights the struggles of the people -- showcasing individuals, communities and social movements from traditional protests to the latest rage, through songs created in response and resistance.
