The prophet Jonah is no different than many Believers today. Anointed without question. The ability to hear GOD clearly and accurately share what "Thus Saith The Lord!" With all of this working in his favor, he struggled in one major area: Forgiveness. Jonah wanted Justice. He wanted Ninevah to pay for the evil they had done. Though they eventually did, see the book of Nahum. His primary responsibility at this point was to issue a warning of judgment and leave the rest up to GOD.
