秋分の日は祖先を敬い、亡くなった人を偲ぶための祝日です。/
Autumnal equinox day is a holiday to honor ancestors and remember those who have passed away.
秋分の日から前後3日間は「秋のお彼岸」と呼ばれています。/
The three days before and after the autumnal equinox are known as the "Aki no Ohigan".
この1週間、日本では家族でお墓参りに行ったり、仏壇に手を合わせるなど、先祖を供養します。/
During this week in Japan, families make offerings to their ancestors by visiting graves and laying hands on Buddhist altars.
秋分の日にはおはぎを食べる習慣があります。/
It is customary to eat o-hagi on the autumnal equinox.
おはぎはお餅をごまやあんこで包んだ食べ物です。/
Ohagi is food made of rice cake wrapped in sesame or red bean paste.
