28. Sensation is Your First Language

Sensation is our most primal language and yet most of us live fairly disembodied or with pain and discomfort that we'd rather do anything than feel. What if reconnecting to sensation could set you free? In this episode I explore:

  • How sensation is our first language we learn as babies
  • Ways we learn to ignore bodily sensation to abide by social norms
  • How paying attention to our bodily sensations can help us understand what our body is trying to communicate
  • What is interoceptive awareness, the association between interoceptive awareness and mental health, and how to improve it
  • Why feeling into your hands is a great way to connect to sensation
  • How your body can be your internal compass if you can truly feel sensations
  • An evidence based intervention to connect with sensation, increase interoceptive awareness and improve your mental health

Jaclyn Explores is hosted by Jaclyn Shea (she/they) a somatic coach, embodiment facilitator, science communicator, and health researcher. With a Masters in Public Health, trained in Somatic Stress Release and Mind Body Coaching, and ten+ years of experience facilitating and conducting research Jaclyn is passionate about communicating the latest research into somatic practices that help you release stress, process trauma, and live life on purpose. Jaclyn works one-on-one clients through somatic coaching, facilitates a group program called Body Language Lab, and in person and zoom workshops. To learn more or work with Jaclyn visit www.jaclynexplains.com and follow her on Instagram @jaclynexplains
