Patrick Ortiz is the community engagement coordinator for SLV GO. SLV Go’s Mission is to: “Provide residents and visitors throughout the San Luis Valley with accessible and inclusive outdoor recreation opportunities that connect communities, improve wellness, encourage stewardship, and contribute to the economic vitality of the region.” The local trails and outdoor recreation prospects provide great opportunities for leisure but they also encourage an “active lifestyle. Outdoor recreation also promotes self reliance and resilience, because as beautiful mother nature is she has no problem eating a person up and spitting them out. To put it frankly, without the proper precautions, and planning outdoor recreation can be dangerous. In this conversation I sit down with Patrick Ortiz, Alamosa Native, avid outdoors person, and the Community engagement coordinator for SLV GO.
