This is a question that researchers at the Senckenberg und LOEWE-Zentrum für Translationale Biodiversitätsgenomik (Senckenberg and LOEWE Center for Translational biodiversity genomics) want to answer on the basis of genetic material. A study in the journal “Evolution Letters” shows this.
