Insights into Celiac Disease and Gluten Sensitivity with Alexa Prass
Alexa Prass, MPH, RDN, and I discuss celiac disease, gluten sensitivity, and the difference between the two. I will acknowledge that I've re-incorporated gluten into my diet since this interview due to pregnancy and not being able to hold much down except sourdough bread during my first trimester. That said, I think there is a lot of misinformation (or frankly just a lack of information) out there about celiac disease which is a condition invisible to the naked eye. Many women struggle in silence with this condition and have difficulty both getting a diagnosis and obtaining a referral to a dietician. Alexa shares her diagnosis journey, what led her to pursue a career path as a dietician specializing in celiac disease, and what resources and personal practices she has found helpful throughout her journey with this condition.
