Hearth, heart, home: storytelling for hope, landscapes of love and abundance in inter-being with Vidya Porselvi

Dr P. Mary Vidya Porselvi is Associate professor and Head of the Department of English at Loyola College, Chennai. Her primary research during her studies was on the topic ‘Mother Earth Discourse as Conscientizacao: An Ecofeminist Approach to Folktales from India’ , she here identified an innovative folktale typology which connects women with environment. She is author to the books ‘Nature, Culture and Gender: Rereading the Folktale’ (2016), ‘Bhoomi Tales’ (2014) , ‘Nature’s Voices, Women’s Voices’ (2015) and ‘Environmental Humanities in Folktales: Theory and Practice’ (2023). She likes to read and write poetry with nature at its center. She has most recently published three collections of nature poems titled, ‘Gaianjali’ in February 2023, ‘Kalpavriksham’ in June 2024 and ‘Unfading Rhapsodies’ in May 2025.
