“News Pick of the Week” with Ralph Bond

When it comes to delicate surgical operations nothing beats attempting to treat inoperable brain tumors. Traditional, rigid surgical tools just make the job so much harder. But what if there was an ultra-tiny robot that could harmlessly "swim" through brain tissue to do the job? Our Science and Technology news reporter, Bond, Ralph Bond, is here to tells us about just such an amazing bot.

Our guest this show: Jolene Shang, Chief Marketing Officer - Zendure

Joe in Hazelton, Pennsylvania asked: "I'm a musician and I'd like to build my following a little bit more. I'd like to get on Facebook, possibly, and do live concerts. Is that okay to do or is that not legal? If I play copyrighted songs on Facebook and even going back further, how would I do that? I've never done it. Do I need a mixing board and microphone? Can I do it without a camera? Can I do it with a cell phone? If I do it with a cell phone, does the audio suffer terribly? And I dont even have Facebook. So thats the first thing I have to do if Im going to do this. But I dont want to be a sucker for a Zuckerburg. I dont want to give him all my data. It's bad enough you share enough data on the internet anyway. If it would help me build the following, Id probably do it for a while. Any comments would be appreciated on how to do this."Joe, Facebook, YouTube and the like will block copyrighted music as soon as its detected, but that doesnt typically apply to live performances, just to sampling music or using it as background music. If youre playing and signing yourself you will most likely be just fine and not run into any issues. As far as the audio is concerned, if you use your phone or your computers microphones the quality will definitely suffer. Both will sound a lot worse than if you run the audio through a couple of good microphones and a mixer the quality will be much, much better. If you do want to run it by your phone, their app is the way to go, youll be able to start the livestream from there by pressing a button. You dont need to show your video for the livestream to work, though it will probably be less popular if its just a blank screen. As far as having a Facebook account goes, theres no way around that being a privacy nightmare, youd also be doing it in a platform that has been in decline for years. You may be better off giving up your online privacy for Instagram or TikTok, but you probably shouldnt expect too much exposure in any case given how many accounts are competing for eyeballs these days.
