Dean Megan Carpenter on Immoral and Scandalous Trademarks

The California Lawyers Association is the bar association for all California attorneys. Our mission is to promote excellence, diversity and inclusion in the legal profession and fairness in the administration of justice and the rule of law.

In this episode, I’ll be talking to Megan M. Carpenter, the dean of the University of New Hampshire School of Law. Dean Carpenter is an internationally known expert in intellectual property, with particular interests in entrepreneurship, branding, and the arts. We talk about her background, how she became interested in IP law, and the status of "immoral" or "scandalous" trademarks one year after the Brunetti decision.

The Annual IP Institute has been canceled for 2020. Our flagship program will return to the California coast on October 28-30, 2021 at the Laguna Cliffs Resort & Spa.

We have several MCLE webinars coming up soon, including one on How Led Zeppelin Won in the Ninth Circuit and May Have Fixed Music Copyright Law.

For information about the webinars and other events, you can go to our website, http://calawyers.org/IPEvents

If you’re interested in joining the Intellectual Property Law Section of the California Lawyers Association, visit calawyers.org/joinip

Finally, if you want to send us an email about the show, you can send it to IPPodcast@CALawyers.org – we look forward to hearing from you. I’m looking forward to speaking with you next time on Intangible Assets.
