Have you ever wondered what it’s like to tackle terrorists as your day job?

Every day, incredible women across Counter Terrorism Policing work to keep the public safe from terrorism and play a crucial part in protecting the UK’s national security.

However, it isn’t always easy to talk about what they do publicly. So, in this special podcast series to mark International Women’s Day, we are taking you behind the scenes to reveal the untold stories of working in counter terrorism.

Over five episodes you'll hear from women across Counter Terrorism Policing who work in intelligence, investigations, forensics, countering extreme right-wing terrorism, and covert surveillance. They’ll talk about their careers – the good stuff, the bad and their advice about working in policing.

For some of the women involved it’s the first time they’ve spoken publicly about their work. To do so safely, their identities have been protected.

Cassandra: 40 years of forensics and CSI, giving a voice to those who no longer have one.

In our final episode, our guest has spent the last 40 years working in one of the most specialised areas of policing and one of the most familiar to crime drama fans.

Now one of Counter Terrorism Policing’s most senior forensics experts, she's honed her skills investigating crime scenes across the UK and, as she describes it, giving voice to those who no longer have one.

Her entry into policing wasn't easy. As the daughter of a miner, she spent a long time hiding what she did for a living.

Could you do Cassandra’s job? We are always looking for people to join our team and our mission to protect the public from terrorism.

With 43 late-stage terror attacks stopped since 2017, the need to recruit incredible people has never been greater.

You can find current vacancies here, and on your local police force website.
