On August 23, 2023, India made history by becoming the first nation to successfully land a spacecraft on the Moon's south pole through its Chandrayaan-3 mission. Chandrayaan-3 is the third mission within the Chandrayaan program, a series of lunar exploration missions developed by the esteemed Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). Launched on July 14, 2023, this mission consists of a lunar lander named Vikram and a lunar rover named Pragyan.
