Known as “Jonesy” to his friends, he career began with the Ohio prison system after he volunteered for the military draft where he served from 1973 to 1975 as a combat engineer. Sheriff Jones holds a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice and a Master's Degree in Corrections.
