151. Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT/MHT) with Menopause Specialist Christina Saldanha
Today Amy speaks with Christina Saldanha about HRT/MHT. We talk about:
—options for hormone therapy such as: combined options, progestins vs progesterone, and using the pill in perimenopause.
—the different types of estrogen and how much estrogen blood levels rise with systemic HRT/MHT vs blood levels during our cycling years
—how soon a person should begin HRT/MHT after surgical menopause
🎤WHO IS CHRISTINA SALDANHA?🎤
Christina Saldanha is a PA, writer, speaker, and fierce advocate for women's health. She owns her own independent private practice in Winston Salem, NC, where she provides primary care to women across the lifespan but with special focus on hormone health, menopause, and sexual health. She graduated from High Point University PA school in 2017, and she started working in a gynecologic oncology clinic taking care of gynecologic cancer survivors, patients on active treatment, first assisting in the operating room, and taking care of patients admitted to the hospital. Her favorite part of this job was helping gynecologic cancer survivors navigate menopause and sexual health after cancer treatment. This led her to become a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner, an AASECT Certified Sexuality Counselor, and an International Society for the Study of Women's Sexual Health Fellow. She opened her practice to meet women where they are at in their health and wellness journey.
