What is Yasukuni? Simply put it is a shrine dedicated to peace and the soldiers of Japan. It’s name translates to Peaceful Land Shrine (Yasukuni Jinja) and despite the name it is the most controversial Shinto Shrine there is.
This is because is has continuously been at the center of post war / post Japanese colonization politics.
