This week Crossy is joined by Karla Chubb, lead singer of Sprints.
As the frontwoman and songwriter for the celebrated Irish garage punk band Sprints, Karla Chubb has firmly established herself as a commanding voice in the genre. Known for her raw, unfiltered lyrics and electrifying stage presence, Karla has become a key figure in the Irish punk revival, spearheading the band into the charts with their fearless energy and uncompromising sound. Over the past few years, Sprints have shared the stage with acclaimed acts such as The Gossip, Idles, Suede and Fontaines DC.
Beyond the music, Karla is a passionate advocate for LGBTQ+ visibility, mental health awareness, and the transformative power of art as a form of resistance. Later this year, Karla and Sprints are set to release the follow-up to their debut album and will soon embark on a European tour.
Recorded in the intimate setting of Sin É, surrounded by the pub’s rich musical legacy, Crossy chats about Karla’s personal journey, the inspirations behind her creativity, and her thoughts on the importance of speaking out—both on and off the stage.
