This week on ‘If Taps Could Talk’, we’re coming to you from Grogan’s, one of Dublin’s most cherished pubs. Renowned for its character, toasties, and buzzing atmosphere, it’s a place that truly feels like the heart of Dublin.
Established in the late 18th century, Grogan’s now welcomes the loyal regulars, the hipsters and curious tourists alike, serving hundreds of pints and countless toasties every single day. Joining Crossy on today’s episode is someone who embodies the spirit of community far beyond these historic walls. DJ, activist, dog lover, and devoted Beamish drinker, Calvin James Sweeney isn’t just a regular here—he’s a man making a genuine impact in the world. Calvin began his journey spinning tunes in gritty New York dive bars, before taking his talent globally. But his story doesn’t stop at music.
As an outstanding humanitarian, Calvin has dedicated himself to aiding the most vulnerable in war-torn regions across the globe. From Cambodia, India, Iraq and Yemen, he spent six months as a medic in wartorn Syria. His efforts have changed lives - he’s built schools, ambulances, and hospitals, crossed borders under cover, while rescuing both desperate refugees and stranded pets from the chaos of conflict.
