In this episode of the IEEE Blockchain Podcast Series, we speak with Julie Frizzo-Barker. Julie Frizzo-Barker recently completed her PhD at Simon Fraser University's School of Communication, in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Her dissertation investigated the social shaping of blockchain through interviews and participant observations with women working in the space. She is currently a lead researcher on a project conducted by MIT's Digital Currency Initiative (DCI) and Maiden Labs, funded by Financial Services for the Poor at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, focused on whether and/or how central bank digital currency (CBDC) may influence financial inclusion for low- and middle-income populations in India, Indonesia, Nigeria, and Mexico.
