Das hr-Jazzensemble experimentierte im Juli ’25 erneut im Klanglabor des Hessischen Rundfunks. Es ist die älteste kontinuierlich bestehende Combo des modernen Jazz in Deutschland, eines der ältesten Ensembles weltweit. Auf dem 6. Deutschen Jazzfestival Frankfurt 1958 erklärte der hr-Intendant Eberhard Beckmann die "German Allstars" um Albert Mangelsdorff zum "Jazzensemble des Hessischen Rundfunks". Es sollte für den Sender arbeiten und hatte schnell einen so ausgezeichneten Ruf, dass internationale Stars Schlange standen, um mitzuspielen. (Sendung vom 15.9.)
