Through some insightful feedback from listeners and business partners it was made thankfully aware to me that I had not done a good job of explanining what Augmented intelligence is and how it differs from Artifical intleligence. So I wanted to try to clear that up. Augmented intelligence is something of an older brother of artificial intelligence that tends to use AI in more of assistive role, emphasizing the fact that it is designed to enhance human intelligence rather than replace it. Where Artifiical inteligence tends to be perceived more as a complete replacement of human intelligence. Augmented intelligence is an alternative label for artificial intelligence which also reflects the current state of technology and research more accurately. While a sophisticated AI program is certainly capable of making a decision after analyzing patterns in large data sets, that decision is only as good as the data that human beings gave the programming to use.
