I am the host, Brendan le Grange, and I have spent the last twenty years working in - or alongside - lenders in Africa, Asia, and Europe and I’m using that experience to find and learn from industry insiders in a series of weekly interviews. Sometimes, those interviews discuss the inspiration behind a new start-up, sometimes they look back at a career spent at the lending coal face, and sometimes they explore where the latest technologies might take us. Very early in my career, back in the days when the details from paper forms had to be typed into a computer to get the application process started, I heard about companies scanning application forms and then sending the files to India to have the data capture done there. A decade later, the guy I was chatting to in a hotel bar in Nairobi promised me he could build a collection call centre in India, staffed by Swahili-speaking staff at a fraction of the local cost. And now, as I hear from Rajul Sood, we can outsource an entire AI infrastructure - the back-end of intech is changing just as fast as the front-end!
