Episode 22: Illusionist Lucas Wilson

We’ve all wanted to be magicians at one point in our lives, right?

I remember getting my first magic kit and putting on a less-than-staller interpretation of the ‘rings trick’ for my first audience – my sister. She was amazed. Most 3-year-olds would be.

For a brief moment I thought magic was my calling: to travel the world to “wow” people with my amazing skills and showmanship!

Of course, it never happened. But I did get into performing music and comedy, which still requires showmanship, craft, and perseverance.

There are a lot of kids out there who dream of becoming singers, actors, dancers, or performers, so I invited illusionist Lucas Wilson on the show to talk about breaking into the performing arts.

Lucas is a young, successful magician who is Canada’s only four-time Guinness World Record holding illusionist; he’s appeared on CBC’s Dragon’s Den, Canada’s Got Talent, and NBC’s Today Show.

The world of magic is a mysterious one, but the business of magic is even more mystifying. Lucas pulls back the curtain on the things he’s done to work in magic and carve out a career entertaining audiences around the world.
