Episode 21: Music Supervisor Norm Beaver

If you’ve ever thought about working in animation or music for film and television this is the episode for you!

Norm Beaver is a Music Supervisor for Nelvana, a Toronto-based animation company. He works with songwriters and composers to create compelling music for cartoons. Norm has worked on Franklin the Turtle, Babar the Elephant and 6Teen, which won an Emmy Award for best theme song. Norm plays drums, guitar and bass, and believes the band RUSH are gods.

In this episode, Norm walks us through the post-production process of putting music and sound effects to animation, then shares how he gave up his lucrative, but unfulfilling job in sales to pursue a career in sound & audio. He also shares tips on how to source the right music tracks for your scenes, and how to find gigs in the biz.
