Born in London, she obtained her degrees in Human Anatomy and Medicine. After moving to Australia in 1984, she earned a PhD from the University of Adelaide. She served as the State Member of Adelaide, holding several ministerial portfolios. Dr. Lomax-Smith has also served two terms as Lord Mayor of Adelaide and holds significant positions on various committees and boards.
