S8E3 - How Could We? Redefine leadership for a renewable future

It’s the final episode of our leadership-focused series, recorded live at the Paris REALITY Tour. The event was organised by The Climate Reality Project and aims to build public momentum and political will for ambitious climate commitments leading up to COP 30 in Brazil.

This week, Anne-Sophie Garrigou is interviewing Rana Adib, Executive Director of REN21. A policy network and a multistakeholder governance group, REN21 promotes renewable energy as a solution to accelerate climate action.

In this episode, Rana talks about the importance of integrating sustainability across economic sectors and policymaking, how combining technical ‘hard’ skills and transversal ‘soft’ skills are equally important in the shift away from fossil fuels, as well as the need to balance storytelling with facts and figures when communicating about climate change.

Rana also talked about REN21’s REboot the world campaign and its Renewables 2024 Global Status Report.

If you enjoyed this episode, we recommend listening to episode two from this season, which saw Gosia Rychlik, Branch Manager at The Climate Reality Project, talk about the role of storytelling in effective climate leadership - as well as how taking action at a local level can impact a global problem like climate change.

You should also check out this season’s first episode with Climate KIC’s Marina Gil Velasco, where we discussed the recently-launched Climate KIC Academy - supported by EIT - and how Climate KIC is tackling the green skills gap.
