After a two week hiatus, we're back to dissect the latest Australian music industry news.
We begin by giving a wrap-up of Gossy Weekender and analyse whether Central Coast crowds are fair weather supporters.
We then move into a landmark decision my the Federal Government to protect copyrighted material from being 'mined' by AI platforms. This has come after months of campaigning by prominent artists such as Jack River and Briggs.
After that, we move onto the 'puzzling' and 'disgusting' decision that the State Government are going to appeal the decision in realtion to strip searches at music festivals. It is the opinion of Homebrewed that such a move goes against expert advice, is hurtful to victims, and indicated that no lessons have been learnt from the harmful methods of policing at festivals.
We end by saying a big fuck you to Tottenham Hotspur as Spurs continue their Spursy way.

Homebrewed is a podcast dedicated to supporting the Australian Music Industry. Cameron Smith and Eamonn Snow have been presenting Homebrewed since November 2017 and have received excellence awards and the admiration of local bands for their presentation of Homebrewed and their continued support of the Australian music scene. This podcast is designed so you can enjoy conversations with musicians, industry representatives and music media personalities.
Your favourite podcast duo whose names are Cameron and Eamonn are back to chew the fat once more.
We begin with a new development in our quest to find a rival podcast, and this one is getting personal!
We then dive into the news that the NSW Government have struck a venues deal with Spotify. Essentially, Sydney venues will be among the first in the world to have their venues featured on Spotify. Whilst the State Government are claiming this as a win for music attendance, we have concerns over Spotify's increased acquisition of all parts of the music industry.
We then shift out attention to Aus Art Day (Thursday October 23), which encourages all who are eligible to donate money to support art in Australia.
We finish up by talking about the wonderful Gossy Weekender event being held next weekend (October 31 - November 2).

We cover the stories and people that made Bloom, Soul music in Australia and how WILSN has used social media to built a truly International audience.

Abbey from Central Coast band Little Quirks joins us in the Homebrewed (Sonora) Studios!
We chat about their new EP 'The Beast', writing about other people's 'situationships', and writing a song with a swear word in it 😮
Abbey also explains what it's like working with a record label who want viral TikTok moments. They even delayed a single release as a result.
Abbey also gets real about attending music festivals as a female, and details some of the misogyny and creepy comments they receive on the daily.

Welcome to another Music News episode!
This one explores the revival of the nighttime economy in New South Wales, focusing on government reforms aimed at supporting the arts and cultural sectors. We know it sounds boring on paper - Government policy changes, tax reforms, and Councils - but the initiatives are designed to foster local events and reduce bureaucratic hurdles.
We then turn out attention to the NSW Police and a landmark court case in relation to strip searches at music festivals, and the implications of a class action lawsuit against the New South Wales police.
We finish with a brief discussion on the AFL and NRL grand final performances, and still beg the question...why wasn't an Aussie headlining?

Dan Mac from Art Vs Science joins us on this one for an honest conversation at a pivotal time for the band. Art Vs Science have just dropped their first single in a couple of years, 'Powder', This track is every bit as epic and fun as we've come to expect from the three piece. It also serves as the first release in a new chapter for Art Vs Science, as Dan reveals that a fresh approach to creating together pulled their project of 17 years back from the brink.
We also dive into Dan's incredibly solid ideas to boost Australian music as a whole and claw back some bargaining power from streaming platforms that are increasingly taking the piss.

For what we believe is just the second time ever, we're joined by a guest for the Music News! Please rejoice as we're joined by Dan Mac from Art vs Science.
Dan's got a great idea to help boost streaming numbers and revenue from streams in Australia. Firstly, it involves Government lobbying with streaming services. Another alternative involved turning triple j into a dedicated radio AND music streaming service, complete with staff-curated playlists to help you discover new Aussie music.
We also talk about Massive Attack joining an increasing number of artists leaving Spotify in response to Daniel Ek's war investments.
We also talk about the “No Music for Genocide” campaign.
There's a whole bunch more in there, too, but that's all the juicy stuff.

Chair of Central Coast Music and Arts (CCMA), Greg Carey joins us on this one in the lead up to the Light Up music and community event. Light Up is a response to the tragic murder of 19 year old Audrey Griffin, who was denied the basic right to get home safely after a night out in Gosford on the NSW Central Coast.
Greg runs us through the motivation for putting on Light Up, the impact he hopes it will leave, and the change that has been demanded by the Central Coast community following the loss of Audrey Griffin.
We also touch briefly on the stellar work Greg and the whole team at CCMA have been doing to build a thriving music and arts scene on the Central Coast.

In typical Homebrewed fashion, this pod is a little bit hampered by technology. Curse our enemies at the NBN (decide which one!)
In this episode we break down the latest report into the Nighttime Economy in NSW. The report finds that better transport and safety in required to get more people attending events. It also finds that reducing Government red tape is crucial for allowing venues to apply for DA's to transform their hospitality business into one suitable for live. music.
We also get sad over the fact that Vance Joy is no longer in the renewed ARIA charts, and then get even sadder when we realise that ZERO Australian artists made the top 50 singles charts.
We also look at the NRL and AFL's decisions over their grand final entertainment.

Playlunch are a seven piece band from Melbourne who describe their music as 'bogan funk'.
We're joined by Liam Bell, Austin Richards, Michael D'Emilio from the band to chat about their sophomore album 'Sex Ed', which has plenty of references to Australian culture.
We chat about the rules of schoolyard handball, explain the term 'monkey grab', and get into the weeds of how a band with seven members can effectively create very good music which is funny at its core.
We also play a round of Aussie nostalgia 'this or that'.

As promised, we've got a fortnightly dose of music news ready for your dutiful consumption.
In this episode, we kick off with a brief update on the endlessly entertaining lawsuit unfolding between Drake and Universal Music over Kendrick Lamar's 'Not Like Us'. Next, we get into the weeds as the NSW Government's festival funding is accused of backing the wrong horses. Spotify is also back on our radar (it never leaves) as artists like Aussie legends King Gizz stage yet another exodus over CEO Daniel Ek's investment in AI weapons. While we're on the topic, examine ARIA's cozying up to the streaming giant and the implications of that partnership for artists.

Noah and Harley from Northern Beaches band The Rions join us!
We chat about their upcoming debut album ''Everything Every Single Day', which is set for release on October 3rd.
We talk about how the band formed in high school, and both Noah and Harley reflect on how lucky they are to still be playing with the same mates. They also tell the story of their most terrifying gig.
Noah discusses his musical parents and upbringing, while Harley shares that the band weren't big on attending gigs, and the surprising benefits that come with it.
We start the episode though with a fun game of 'which one of us is Cameron.' Enjoy!

After a couple of weeks navigating new, busy schedules, milestone events and rescheduled interviews, we're back with a big dose of the Music News.
In this episode, we attempt to explain our less-than-consistent release schedule over the last fortnight before checking in on a brand new all Australian digital radio station coming out of... Commercial radio?!
Next, we unpack the predictable but disappointing news that the AFL have once again ignored homegrown talent for their Grand Final entertainment, with Snoop Dogg booked to perform at the penultimate fixture this year. All eyes on the NRL now.
AI is also back in the news, but this time our own federal government is suggesting we relax copyright laws so big tech can scrape our creative industries. This all coming before Australia enacts a single piece of AI regulation. Expect an earful on this one.
Finally, we discuss the epic Rolling Sets lineup for 2025. Save the 6th of December in your calendar for the Central Coast's biggest live music event; and understand that Tweed Heads is now our regional enemy. Cheers.

Our first ever 'live' edition of the Music News! In this episode we react to triple j's Hottest 100 of Australian Songs (including some hot takes), before discussing the disappointing news that the Coastal Twist Festival set to be held in Umina Beach has suffered a major setback, seemingly out of nowhere, and seemingly because of the NRL Grand Final. Make it make sense.
We finish the episode with some recordings we took at the Full Bloom launch event at Laycock Street Theatre on Tuesday night. We chat with CCMA Chair Greg Carey, Member for Gosford Liesl Tesch MP, Owner of the Grove Studios Scott Horscroft, Spacey Jane bass player Peppa Lane, and triple j presenter and Coast FM alumni Angus Hamill.
It's jam-packed, so give it a listen, chuck us a follow, and leave a lovely review if you enjoy the podcast!

We've been sharing and talking about their music since 2018, so it's safe to say we're thrilled to be chatting to Lachy Rose from Cousin Tony's Brand New Firebird for this episode.
Lachy jumped on soon after the release of CTBNF's brilliant fourth studio album Rosewater Crocodile, and this conversation covers the journey both to and of that album in some depth. We also explore the maturing of CTBNF as a band and Lachy unpacks the carefully considered frameworks that underpin his approach to making art. This is an unsurprisingly insightful conversation with one of Australia's best alt rock offerings - don't miss it.

Central Coast hip-hop/rap artist Comar joins us for a second time on the pod following the release of his new album 'Central Coasts Finest!'
Comar chats about the album and how he managed to fit in rhymes for many Central Coast locations and venues, such as Mumbo Jumbos. He also reflects on his previous relationships and incel culture, which he calls out in his track 'embarrasing!'
We dive deep into the weeds of how men who fall into this culture think, and how music and tv might be the best way through to them.

For a record-breaking seventh time, Central Coast pop/country artist Chelsea Berman sits down and has a chat with us. We also had a live audience member, TJ, who was brilliant. This chat is chaotic, heartbreaking, funny, tangential, and in our humble opinion, well worth a listen!
Chelsea joined us ahead of her latest EP release, 'Like Me Better'. We walk about being more vulnerable in her songwriting, with tracks from this new EP talking about her sexuality and traumatic experiences in relationships.
We also discuss her upcoming appearance at a rock/country festival in Switzerland, and Chelsea reveals a secret past involving a TV show on the ABC during her HSC!
Plenty of laughs, a few tears, and one great podcast!
