Munshi Premchand's real name was Dhanpat Rai Srivastava (31 July 1880 – 8 October 1936). He was born in Lamhi village near Banaras, he did writing work under the name of Nawab Rai in Urdu and Premchand in Hindi. He was the most popular novelist, story writer and thinker of Hindi and Urdu.
