I'm really proud of this one & think it's worth listening to even if you don't have your own children. Supporting children to develop emotional intelligence is a gift that will serve them in all areas of life, for the rest of their life.
In this episode, I use my lens as a teacher and a parent to share with you some practical ways that you action this at home. I hope you enjoy!
Please share it around with anyone you think might benefit! ✨
Picture books to support Emotional Intelligence:
"Brain is (Not) Always Right" Scott Stuart
We love this one! It talks about how your brain and heart can have conflicting ideas. Sometimes our brain tells us we can't do things but we need to follow our heart and have a go! https://www.target.com.au/p/brain-is-not-always-right-scott-stuart/67726943
"Feelings" Kathy Gordon
This is a lift-the-flap book. We've been reading this since Beau was about 2. It shows multiple scenarios of different feelings and asks children to guess which emotion the child is feeling on each page.

"In My Heart" Jo Witek
You may have seen this one around. it is ADORABLE. It has a hole cut out of a heart in the middle of the book that gradually gets smaller and smaller. Each page talks about different emotions in a really expressive way. It also uses colour to express this. This book is beautiful.

"Little Zebra is Very Kind" Jedda Robaard
A simple book about being a good friend and helping each other out. Very cute.
