One of the most asked questions we would get as a safari guides was, “What’s one of your most incredible moments spent in the bush?”So today, I’m sharing one of my most memorable days - a day when my tracker, Ruel Ngwenya, and I had no guests and decided to head out on foot. What started as a casual morning walk turned into a seven-hour adventure filled with elephants, a leopard, and the highlight of it all, a white rhino cow and her tiny calf.Beyond the adrenaline, this story is also a reminder of why walking safaris are so special and important for the overall experience. When you’re on foot, you notice so much more. From tracks, signs and bird nests, to the smells, sounds, and textures of the bush. It’s a chance to really feel and be part of the wilderness, to connect with it in a way you just can’t from a vehicle. It was one of Ruel and I’s most exciting experiences together, and a day I’ll never forget.
