Bonus Episode #10: “Tiga Meets Liefeld” | Dark Horse’s Ultraman Tiga Manga #1-#4 (Return of the Warrior)
As you we wait for Chris (aka “Sentai Guy”) to finish editing our Kamen Rider Faiz episodes, Nathan (aka “The TsuBro”) discusses a bit of “Ultra Obscura”: a ten-issue Ultraman Tiga comic published by Dark Horse in 2003. While it looks like something they’d have produced themselves, it was actually made in Hong Kong in 1998 and then translated by Dark Horse. As Nathan explains, the comic starts off strong by adapting the premiere episode of the 1996 TV series, but it gets more divergent and bonkers as it goes. There’s a reason this comic has been forgotten by all but a small cult following. Part 2, which focuses on issues five to ten, drops next week.
