Angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs) and telmisartan have a renoprotective effect on renal endothelial function, preventing progression from microalbuminuria to macroalbuminuria, slowing the decline in glomerular filtration rate, and reducing proteinuria in overt nephropathy. ARB/ACEi combination therapy with SGLT2 inhibitors could achieve better control of blood pressure and estimated glomerular filtration rate.
