no son instrumentos para el príncipe;

The 10 Biggest Civil War Blunders by Edward H. Bonekemper III | Audiobook
Listen to full audiobooks for free on : https://hotaudiobook.com/free Title: The 10 Biggest Civil War Blunders Author: Edward H. Bonekemper III Narrator: Peter Berkrot Format: Unabridged Length: 7 hrs and 26 mins Language: English Release date: 01-22-18 Publisher: Blackstone Audio, Inc. Genres: History, American Summary: What makes the Civil War so fascinating is that it presents an endless number of "what if" scenarios - moments when the outcome of the war (and therefore world history) hinged on a single small mistake or omission. In this audiobook, Civil War historian Edward Bonekemper highlights the 10 biggest Civil War blunders, focusing in on intimate moments of military indecision and inaction involving great generals like Robert E. Lee, Ulysses S. Grant, and William T. Sherman as well as less effective generals such as George B. McClellan, Benjamin Butler, and Henry W. Halleck. Bonekemper shows how these 10 blunders significantly affected the outcome of the war, and explores how history might easily have been very different if these blunders were avoided. R. E. Lee: Volume Three by Douglas Southall Freeman | Audiobook
Listen to full audiobooks for free on : https://hotaudiobook.com/free Title: R. E. Lee: Volume Three Author: Douglas Southall Freeman Narrator: Charlton Griffin Format: Unabridged Length: 17 hrs and 51 mins Language: English Release date: 01-22-18 Publisher: Audio Connoisseur Genres: History, American Summary: Volume three opens in May 1863 as Lee assessed his situation after the great Confederate victory at Chancellorsville and the loss of General Jackson. Lee quickly reorganized his army and headed north, hoping to inflict a war-ending defeat on the Union. But absent Jackson, his army was not the same. At Gettysburg, after three days of horrific fighting climaxed by Pickett's disastrous charge, almost one-third of Lee's entire army was killed, wounded, or captured. Meade's losses were identical, but he had greater reserves. Retreating to Virginia, Lee spent the next nine months bolstering his army with ever dwindling provisions. As the winter of 1863-64 came to an end, Lee prepared his troops for renewed action. But due to attrition, he had lost the initiative and could fight only a defensive war against an overwhelming, implacable foe: U. S. Grant. But Grant soon realized the valiant Army of Northern Virginia was like no army he had ever faced. With veteran troops numbering fewer than half those of Grant, Lee grimly managed to grind the Union army to a halt in front of Richmond. But for how long? Listeners are urged to follow battles using the maps Freeman himself drew, which are included in the accompanying downloadable PDF document. Contact: info@hotaudiobook.com

Liver-Eating Johnson by Charles River Editors | Audiobook
Listen to full audiobooks for free on : https://hotaudiobook.com/free Title: Liver-Eating Johnson Author: Charles River Editors Narrator: Dan Gallagher Format: Unabridged Length: 1 hr and 15 mins Language: English Release date: 01-19-18 Publisher: Charles River Editors Genres: History, American Summary: To possess and develop western North America became a high priority for the United States government even before its Constitution had been complete. For President Thomas Jefferson, the vast terrain of plains, mountains, and extensive coastlines offered both long-term prosperity and protection from competing international powers. Railroads were still some decades off, and passable roads were all but nonexistent. From its first interactions with numerous Indian cultures, the government understood that the western portion of the continent was already "owned" by a variety of indigenous tribes, despite their alternate concept of ownership. To gain possession of the coasts and the interior meant there would be new languages to be learned, hundreds of treaties to be struck, and wars to be fought over several regions. No familiar institutions of power were suitable for creating a foothold in the continent's interior, especially in the Rocky Mountain region. The US Army eventually made inroads to the Great Plains and beyond, but the first true explorers of the far wests interior arose from within a relatively small culture embodied by the American mountain man. By the golden age of the mountain man in the mid-19th-century, there were perhaps only 3,000 living in the West. Their origins were disparate, although they included many Anglo-Americans. A good number hailed from wilderness regions of Kentucky and Virginia and throughout the newly purchased Louisiana Territory, which occupied the entire central section of the continent. French Canadians traveled from the north to work in the fur trade, while Creole-Europeans represented approximately 15% of the men known to be living the isolated mountain life. Although the most enduring accomplishments belonged to the mountain men who had discovered, charted, and helped build the great passes through the Rockies to the west, others have retained public fascination for simply being colorful and elusive historical personalities. Such was the case of a legend who came to be known by the singularly unappetizing moniker of Liver-Eating Johnson. One of the mountain men who was present from the peak of mountain culture to its twilight, his literal accomplishments are few and of limited scope in the sense of exploration; however, he is intimately associated with a dangerous life of intrigue, revenge, and physical horrors unspeakable in polite society. While his colleagues took steps to tame the American wilderness, he became a symbol of its savagery. Johnsons protracted war of vengeance speaks of a constant interaction with the Crow culture of the northwest and the territories of Wyoming and Montana in particular. Liver-Eating Johnson: The Life and Legacy of the Famous Mountain Man looks at the life and legends of one of the Wests most famous men. Contact: info@hotaudiobook.com

The War Scroll: The War of the Sons of Light Against the Sons of Darkness by Joseph Lumpkin | Audiobook
Listen to full audiobooks for free on : https://hotaudiobook.com/free Title: The War Scroll: The War of the Sons of Light Against the Sons of Darkness Author: Joseph Lumpkin Narrator: Dennis Logan Format: Unabridged Length: 5 hrs and 4 mins Language: English Release date: 01-19-18 Publisher: Fifth Estate Genres: History, Ancient Summary: Following in the apocalyptic visions of Daniel, Ezekiel, and Revelation, The War Scroll reveals the conflict between good and evil in the final days of mankind. Popularly known as "The War of the Sons of Light Against the Sons of Darkness", The War Scroll is one of the seven original Dead Sea Scrolls discovered in Qumran in 1947 and holds the Qumran library designator of "1QM", meaning it was produced from the dig of cave one. The War Scroll is a very important piece of literature in our understanding of the concepts of divine justice and retribution held by the Jewish community of the Essenes and the Qumran Community in the time of Jewish persecution by Rome. The scroll reflects a belief that in the end times, evil would be eradicated by the Power of God and his Sons of Light. The Qumran community saw itself as a righteous light in the world, solidly on the side of good. As Gods army, they would fight evil in the world, and with God's help, through his agent, Michael the Archangel, they would win the battle against the Sons of Darkness and bring back righteousness and peace. The text is replete with parallel biblical and apocryphal verses, commentary, and references to numerical symbolism, all intended to lead the listener into an appreciation and understanding of the text. Narrator: Mark Norman
Format: Unabridged
Length: 1 hr and 34 mins

Release date: 01-19-18
Publisher: Charles River Editors

Summary:
"To think what is true, to sense what is beautiful, and to what is good, hereby the spirit finds purpose of a life in reason." (Johann Gottfried Herder, 18th century German philosopher and poet)
In 2012, the German capital recorded a staggering 700,000 people at its CSD Parade, with about 500,000 making it all the way to the end of the joyous march, which is said to have been the biggest and most well-attended pride parade of the year. Berlin's mayor, Klaus Wowereit, among the first openly gay politicians in Germany, famous for uttering the now locally iconic phrase, "Ich bin schwul, und das ist auch gut so (I'm gay, and that is a good thing)", inaugurated the splendid march. Elaborately decorated floats carrying both muscular men in flamboyant period costumes and fabulous queens in their best lace-fronts and drag, wield rainbow flags and dance to techno music as they lead the tremendous party from the Kreuzberg District to the Pariser Platz. As the members of the LGBT community, local and from out of town, surrounded by their friends, family, and allies, grooved into the night, the Brandenburg Gate was converted to a colossal rainbow flag.
Other than culture and love and equality, the Brandenburg Gate is also where the locals celebrate triumphant victories and honor their modern-day heroes, i.e. their sport stars. In mid-July of 2014, a throng of 400,000 ecstatic Germans flooded the streets (many of whom had camped out at the site overnight), starting a fan mile that originated from the fabled gate. It was here that they welcomed the FIFA World Cup champions with German flags, banners, capes, leis in black, red, and gold, and confetti poppers galore. The black Mercedes truck transporting the players, coaches, and crew members could barely move through the swarm of fans.
To the locals today, the Brandenburg Gate, understandably one of the nation's top tourist attractions, is synonymous with spectacle, felicity, and victorious jubilation, but this monument has seen its fair share of dark days over the years. The Brandenburger Tor, which has now watched over the evolution of modern Berlin for well over two centuries, has witnessed as much torment, heartache, and devastation as it has love and success. Some would say this is precisely what makes the renowned gate all the more meaningful, and the city's mission to preserve in its full glory all the more worthwhile.
The Brandenburg Gate: The History and Legacy of Berlin's Famous Landmark chronicles the remarkable history of one of Germany's most famous sites. You will learn about the Brandenburg Gate like never before.

Listen to full audiobooks for free on : https://hotaudiobook.com/free Title: The Cult of the Apis Bull Author: Charles River Editors Narrator: Bill Hare Format: Unabridged Length: 1 hr and 17 mins Language: English Release date: 01-19-18 Publisher: Charles River Editors Genres: History, Ancient Summary: Africa may have given rise to the first human beings, and Egypt probably gave rise to the first great civilizations, which continue to fascinate modern societies across the globe nearly 5,000 years later. From the Library and Lighthouse of Alexandria to the Great Pyramid at Giza, the Ancient Egyptians produced several wonders of the world, revolutionized architecture and construction, created some of the worlds first systems of mathematics and medicine, and established language and art that spread across the known world. With world-famous leaders like King Tut and Cleopatra, its no wonder that todays world has so many Egyptologists. Perhaps the most intriguing aspect of ancient Egyptian civilization was its inception from the ground up, as the ancient Egyptians had no prior civilization which they could use as a template. In fact, ancient Egypt itself became a template for the civilizations that followed. To the ancient Egyptians, the gods and goddesses were all around them and could be seen daily in nature. Nearly every animal found in ancient Egypt, both domestic and wild, were associated with a god or goddess, which can be seen in Egyptian art where deities are often depicted with human bodies and animal heads. Or sometimes the deities are portrayed as complete animals. Since deities were associated with certain animals, all animals of a specific species were given divine and protected status. The reverence that ancient Egyptians had for certain animals evolved during the long duration of Pharaonic history until the Late Period animals of specific species were mummified by the thousands as offerings for their associated deities. For instance, ibises were mummified for the god Thoth, while cats were mummified for the goddess Bastet. Modern archaeologists have uncovered most of the Late Period animal mummies in the region near the modern village of Saqqara, which has become known as the Sacred Animal Necropolis. Although most of the animal mummies discovered in the Sacred Animal Necropolis of Saqqara are the thousands of nameless ibises, falcons, crocodiles, and cats, the region was also home to another, more important animal cult. By the time the Greeks took control of Egypt in the late 4th century BCE, the Apis cult was certainly one of the most influential, if not the most influential, of all the many different religious institutions that existed in the country at that time. Through a combination of modern archaeological excavations as well as Egyptian texts and classical historical accounts, the meaning, scope, and importance of the Apis cult can be better understood.
