In 2020, Dr. Leff received a CTSA catalytic seed grant for the study of remote monitoring in COVID-19 patients. He is an editor for multiple journals pertaining to cardiothoracic anesthesiology and serves on the editorial board for the Journal of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia.
