208 - Andrew Leahey In episode 208 of “Have Guitar Will Travel”, presented by Vintage Guitar Magazine host James Patrick Regan speaks with guitarist and bandleader Andrew Leahey. Andrew not only has his own band but he also plays guitar for Elizabeth Cook amongst others. In their conversation Andrew tells us about his upcoming show in Mexico City which is going to allow him to see Oasis while he’s there. Andrew discusses his new album “Kick|Move|Shake” and the personnel on the album. Andrew describes growing up in Richmond, VA playing fraternity parties and then moving New York to work as a music journalist for Spin magazine and what eventually brought him to Nashville. Andrew takes us through his time in Nashville as a solo artist then backing other artists up and then as a lead guitarist and band leader. Andrew describes what it’s like being a band leader in Nashville losing band members to other bands and what’s like being the guitarist in other bands. Andrew tells us about what it’s like being his own manager and agent and what it’s like being Elizabeth Cook’s guitarist playing some high profile gigs. Andrew takes through his gear and where he gets his gear worked on. Andrew tells us the advice Neal Casale gave him which he still heeds to this day and Andrew gives some advice to young musicians. Finally Andrew tells us how he keeps himself sane… yoga and how that influenced his new album.
