In 1834, a fire at her Royal Street home led to the discovery of tortured individuals, solidifying her reputation as one of the city's most sinister figures. Today, the LaLaurie Mansion stands as one of the most haunted and infamous buildings in the French Quarter. Though privately owned and not open to the public, it remains a focal point on ghost tours, drawing visitors intrigued by its dark history.
