Shelburne Hotel – Explore Washington's oldest and perhaps most haunted hotel | Haunted Atlas
What spirits might remain in Washington's oldest operating lodging, the haunted Shelburne Hotel? For over a century, the Shelburne Hotel has stood as a historic gem in Seaview, Washington. As the longest continuously operating hotel in the state, it has witnessed countless stories—from its beginnings in 1896 as a luxurious retreat for wealthy travelers to the dramatic moment it was physically moved across the street by horse-drawn power. Over the years, the Shelburne has changed hands, expanded, and been lovingly preserved, but some believe its past residents never truly left. Ghostly encounters have become just as much a part of the hotel’s legacy as its rich history. Guests and staff report eerie happenings, from disembodied footsteps echoing through the hallways to the unsettling presence of The Man Upstairs—a spirit believed to be the original owner, Charles Beaver. Rooms 2, 5, 6, 8, and 16 each carry their own spectral legends, including Nina, a mischievous ghost known to wake guests, and Annie May, a benevolent spirit said to bless couples married beneath her favorite tree. Meanwhile, Georgina’s friendly apparition lingers on the stairs, while a grumpy former worker makes his presence known near the maintenance closet. From phantom massages to locked doors that defy explanation, the Shelburne’s hauntings are as diverse as they are chilling. Is this historic hotel merely preserving its past, or do some souls refuse to check out?   For photos and more info on Shelburne Hotel, visit HauntedUS.com: https://hauntedus.com/washington/shelburne-hotel-haunted/ Connect with Haunted US Follow us on Instagram Subscribe on YouTube Find us on Facebook Consider supporting us on Patreon Presented By Sara Sweeney Erica Barrett Research By Sara Sweeney Research supported by the Haunted US Head Writer Mitch Goth Production Assistance By David Sweeney Executive Producer Brandon Rugzie Music By Colleen Johnson Haunted Atlas is a production of Haunted US - visit HauntedUS.com for more information ©2024 Haunted Atlas, Haunted US.
