Welcome back to Hashtag Health! On this episode, we speak with Dr. David Urbach, the head of the department of surgery at Women’s College Hospital in Toronto, about some of the potential solutions to address long and growing surgical wait times in Ontario. Dr. Urbach is an advocate for re-organizing how we deliver surgical care in our public health care system and discusses how team-based models and centralized referral systems can have a positive impact for patients and doctors too! We’ll get into how these models works, examples of where they have already been implemented here in Canada and some of the ways we can work towards implementing this at a larger scale in Ontario.
