DMV-based indie rock band AFTER THE MARTYRS shared their band's story during their Harmonic Heart Interview on 11/7/2020. The duo (consisting of Brenna Carroll on songwriting and vocals and Paco Galazar on guitar and bass) recounted how they were introduced through a mutual friend and started hiking and practicing music together. Brenna discussed how the self-discipline and rebellion of medieval female hagiographies and the eccentric nature of Florence Welsh and Kate Bush influence her writing, music, and performance style. Paco outlined his journey of first picking up the guitar to learning to play a wide range of genres. The duo is looking to incorporate more members and to perform gigs once the COVID-19 pandemic has gotten under control.
