Asking where a candidate sees themselves in the future is a common way for interviewers to evaluate the candidate's plans, goals, and motivation. They want to determine whether your aspirations align with the role they're offering and the company's broader objectives.

The interview question regarding where you see yourself in five to ten years is an opportunity for you to showcase your career ambitions while also aligning your goals with the company's mission and values. Be honest, realistic, and strategic with your answers. Because you really must find out what they need you for. Be ambitious both inside the position you are applying for but also for a next step inside the company. This way you can either develop yourself without wanting too much too quickly or take a step in the company when they need you to.
