We interrupt the Broome Series with some pending baby content ----
While dan is dashing about in Broome, Derek had a great chat with moto journalist Geoff Baldwin as he is about to become a father for the first time.
Geoff and his wife are not only having a home birth, but they are doing it in a pool in the loungeroom. They chat about the benefits and realities of home birth and Derek reveals that he was, in fact, a deliberate home birth baby from the 60's (man).
Some topics covered this episode:
There's no turning back
Home Birth
Forgetting all the trauma
Guessing the Gender - everyone has an opinion
Being a writer from home with a baby
Trying for a baby - ovulation based sex can be a bit unromantic.
Mercy Hospital Birthing Centre - sadly not there anymore, but a great mid point between hospital and midwife style birth.
Water birth - for comfort and pain management. (ground floor only)
extracting a fish bone from your wife's throat with tweezers - Geoff is all set for toddler triage.
mother in law in the birth team - this is going to be a bonding experience.
