Daniel Donahoo: Author, Speaker And Father Of Four.
Daniel has written several books on raising children, he runs programs in schools and for other professionals, concerned mainly with improving the way we all use technology to support education and learning. He talks with us mainly about the experience of losing a child- grief as well as growth.    Topics covered:   A brief History of Dan's relationship with Dan. The death of a child: our greatest fear. A culture that doesn't deal with death. Kids can cope with reality better than we can. Tragedy brings us into the moment- thinking with your body not your head. Remembrance. Remember what is really important- holding onto the perspective that comes from loss and grief. Parenthood increases the spectrum range of emotions. It's okay to keep the dead alive inside the family narrative and mythology. When do you tell people about the death of a child- it can be hard for people to know what to do. Learning from the dying. Trauma and grief are different, though they often occur together. The digital legacy we leave. Year nine. Whooah! Giving friends at school the space to deal with the death of a friend. Getting down to a child's level can de-escalate a difficult situation. Forget time quality time- just being around is what matters. You don't need to be present all the time. Swearing- what happens if you're not prepared to stop. Parenting in a digital world. Positive screen time.
