E9: Emotions, Vulnerability and Time Out!

This week is a bit of a pattern interrupt because life got me!   I wanted to share my own situation and how it affected me last week, because I was in a bit of an emotional mess and it stopped me dead in my tracks.

I wanted to record an episode to show you that life happens to us all and even coaches are human beings who have curve balls hit them, and yes it affects us too!  But part of our offering to clients is having been in your shoes and being able to empathise with your situation; put it this way, had I never been in your shoes how could I coach you through it with sensitivity and understanding, and into a place of balance, brilliance, and resilience!

So this week I’ll use my own current turbulence to explain why it’s important to accept where we’re at and meet ourselves there without judgement or resentment of self.   Sitting with our feelings can be hard for many and we sometimes try to suppress these which means the body's signalling and messages aren’t being dealt with and then expelled through our system as they should be.  Instead they stay blocked inside us and create either point-in-time or future body dysregulation.   We have emotions for a reason and accepting them and not letting them fester in the body is a healthier way to deal with them.

I’ll also explain the importance of self compassion so that we don’t block our feelings or let our ego say too much and become a slave to our mind or our body.   A few key ways to address this are mindfulness and yoga nidra.    But it’s not just the body energy, it's your dialogue to yourself too - are you acting like a person that loves the person you’re talking to?  You should be…

Finally, I’ll give you a quick overview on three relationship triangles; the drama/rescuer triangle, the winning triangle, and the empowerment triangle and share my stepped approach to move through them in a way that feels safe for you and not too contrived (or toxic positivity).     I’ll then end on a short synopsis of being stoic versus being vulnerable and why it doesn’t really pay to adopt the former approach, although some people still prefer this methodology for dealing with their emotions.  Personally, it’s not for me!

As always, if you like the podcast then please don't forget to connect at our other channels and download/share/subscribe to this episode and to the subsequent ones!  Also, if you're feeling generous and like what you hear then any ratings and feedback would be welcomed!

Please contact me directly if you have any Q&As or topics to be explored in future shows.  Also, if you’re interested in coaching with me then please connect with me on social media or via the details in the shows home page, alternatively you can pop a discovery chat in the diary with me by using this link: https://calendly.com/vitalvibe/introduction-call

Much love!

Gen xoxo
