How can you move forward if you don’t know what’s holding you back? In this episode I’m going to give you a format for assessing where you’re at, where you want to be, and how to get there. In doing this work you can clearly see your gaps and your blind spots but it won’t come without a bit of introspection and reflection and some hard feedback from people who want to see you win!
When we split our life into two (the present and the future) we can deep dive a bit more into where we’d like to be and what’s either allowing us or stopping us from getting there. We can map out a picture of desirability and put in a step by step plan on how to get there. We might also HAVE to do a piece of change, so rather than it being motivated by desire (pull factor) you are being motivated by necessity (push factor), which can actually be a bit harder.
This podcast will talk you through some business change and project management approaches and jargon that can easily be adopted in your own life - in fact it’s a good framework to follow for change, because it works! We get a chance to ask lots of questions and really get under the skin of what the current weakness, problem or threat is as well as considering the strengths, the opportunities and the motivation for change. Once we know this we can look at things like feasibility of the proposed/desired change, the resources available to make it happen (versus what’s required), and also levels of commitment from yourself and the available support from others.
In combination with the process bit there’s also a huge piece on self awareness because no matter how much you might want something if you’re standing in your own way then it's a sure non-starter. You have to get out of your own way, but sometimes you might not even be aware you are in it! So I’ll guide you a little into how you can start to open up your levels of self awareness so you can mindfully grow and change with ease!
