Habsworld Podcast Episode 124

With the NHL in summer mode, the HabsWorld podcast crew returned to talk about the Montreal Canadiens and their offseason. Host Norm Szcyrek, with cohosts Paul MacLeod, Sean Cayouette, and Jonathan Rebelo, had a lot to say about the Habs, discuss other hockey news, and had some laughs. This podcast was recorded on July 15 2025.

Topics include:

- Discussion about Montreal trading Emil Heinneman and both first round draft picks for defenceman Noah Dobson, which made Jonathan's wish come true!

- Does this trade mean Montreal's rebuild is over?

- Norm talks about a theory of why the Islanders made this trade, and the irony of the circumstances.

- Sean examined some potential pairings for the defencemen this fall

- Could the Dobson trade facilitate a move of veteran Mike Matheson? A few potential players to trade for were examined.

- Trading defenceman Logan Mailloux to St. Louis for winger Zachary Bolduc was debated

- Montreal's second round pick, Alexander Zharovsky was approved overall by the podcast crew

- Norm was disappointed with the Habs drafting a very small but skilled forward LJ Mooney; the cohosts disagreed and were more optimistic about this selection

- Players at Montreal's summer development camp had strong showings including forwards Hayden Paupanekis, Michael Hage, Aatos Koivu, Tyler Thorpe and defencemen Bogdan Konyushkov,Luke Mittelstadt

- Jacob Dobes contract extension, and signing goaltender Kappo Kahkonen

- Paul brings up a new Carolina baseball team's logo which looks remarkably similar to Montreal's famously copyrighted CH logo

- More trade rumours including Jordan Kyrou were deliberated

- How will Sammy Blais fit into the Habs lineup?

- Further thoughts on how Dobson will play for Montreal
