A MONTHLY DIVE INTO CULTURAL PROJECT PROCESSES IN UGANDA

We are back with our first episode in 2021: Happy belated new year everyone! 

Inspired by TV Shows like ‘Project Runway’ or ‘Americas Topmodel’ Maria-Sheba Atukunda is going to bring that kind of show to Uganda. A design show ‘from Ugandans for Ugandans.’ She is a Ugandan architect and designer, won one of our project grants and now she can realize her vision of creating a TV Show like that. Maria Sheba feels like everyone is trying to copy the European or American style but what about the Ugandan designs/ culture. She is saying ‘feel free to dream but based on Ugandan culture’. A group of 2-4 people have a certain challenge, designing something and the winner will be chosen by popularity, not only social media, also by laypeople. Shootings will be along town, historical, cultural places preferably. It also includes a cash price. The participants are free in their designing but their inspiration must be based on the Ugandan culture.
