Welcome back to the Gated podcast just in time for Autumn.
This time we have a real treat for you with our guest Mark Shephard.
Mark honed his DJ skills in the clubs and basements of Brooklyn before relocating to Tokyo in 2022. Currently he was an organizer of the Acid Gakkou party in Shibuya, frequent guest DJ at Circus Tokyo for the Ensite series of parties, and performed live regularly in Tokyo with hardware drum machines and synthesizers. He’s now established himself in a move to Berlin alongside partner and previous esteemed guest on the Gated Pod, MuHe.
We grabbed Mark for a little bit of a catchup and thoughts behind the mix.
“I’ve been getting settled in Berlin these past months, really enjoying running in the abundant parks and getting some crash German education. Music wise, I’m very into electro and acid house recently, particularly the new releases from Tom Carruthers and Legowelt on L.I.E.S. and from Ninechecker on brokntoys. My idea for this podcast was to play with different broken rhythms at a wide spread of tempos, with some recurring IDM melancholy in the chords and melodies. Cheers!”
