The Scarlet Pimpernel, aired from 1952 to 1953, is dramatic radio show, produced in London by Harry A. Towers and starred Marius Goring as Pimpernel. The title character, Sir Percy Blakeney, an English aristocrat, represents the original "hero with a secret identity" that inspired subsequent literary creations. He takes up the challenge of working in the heart of France for his country. His identity is only known under a solemn oath of secrecy to his immediate followers, the League of the Scarlet Pimpernel. The script stays very close to the dialogue of the original Baroness Emmuska Orczy novel of 1905. GSMC Classics presents some of the greatest classic radio broadcasts, classic novels, dramas, comedies, mysteries, and theatrical presentations from a bygone era. The GSMC Classics collection is the embodiment of the best of the golden age of radio.
