How do agile teams identify a strong purpose and mission, and What does that look like?

In a traditional #projectmanagement environment, diligence, compliance and obedience are valued. Your job is to do as you are told, within the time and cost constraints provided, and make sure that you deliver the work that has been allocated to you. Simple. Straightforward. Predictable. In an #agile environment, we are asking deeply experienced and competent knowledge workers to solve problems that have never been solved before and build products and features that have never been built before. The focus shifts from obedience, compliance, and diligence to creativity, collaboration, and inspiration. We want teams to stretch and deliver the most valuable products, features and services that they are capable of creating. It starts with a strong sense of purpose and a clear mission for the team. In this short video, John McFadyen explains why purpose is so critical to team development, and how inspiration and mission fuel great work.
